Hello and welcome to Marketing Quick #TipsOnQ
In this blog post we will discuss Vine and more specifically how to set up your vanity URL on Vine.
For those of you who may not known what Vine is…Vine is a short form video social media channel that allows you to post 6-second video clips.
Platforms like Vine and Instagram Video are a great way to unleash your marketing’s creativity.
Until recently Vine was only available through mobile platforms on smartphones.
Vine has now made it on to the web where you can set up your profile and claim your vanity URL.
Vanity URLs make it easy for you to direct people to your channel as well as help reinforce your brand’s name.
Let’s take a look at the Vine web interface.
Go to Vine.co that is C – O not .Com
You can then log in using your Username and Password, which should be the same as your Twitter Account.
You will notice that Vine will also give you an option to sign in using your Twitter account, all you have to do is authorize Twitter to exchange information with Vine.
Once you’ve logged in you will go to Settings.
From the Settings Page you will scroll down to the bottom and look for the Custom URL section.
You’ll then type in the name you want to use as a Custom URL.
Keep in mind that you want to use the same name across all of your social media platforms whenever possible to make your marketing easier.
Once you type in the name you want to use, you will see instant feedback on the page confirming that the name is or is not available.
If you happen to get an error telling you that your account is not available for this service at this time.
It is for one of two reasons.
Either your account is new as in less than 30-days old.
Or you have less than two posts on the channel.
So if the account is less than 30-days old, you will simply have to wait.
If you don’t have enough post on your channel, then take a moment to upload at least two posts even if they are simple videos showing off your company logo and then continue with this process.
Once you’ve set your custom URL and it has been approved, you can then link to your Vine profile page as needed in your marketing efforts.
To recap, Vine is a great creative tool that can help build your active brand through engagement.
So think about how you might be able to deliver information about your own brand, product, service or information through a quick 6-second video.
And remember let your creativity drive the process.
