Lead Generation Cards on Twitter

Hello and welcome to marketing quick #TipsOnQ.

In this movie we will be talking about Lead Generation Cards on Twitter and how they can help you grow your email-marketing list.

Here’s an example of a lead generation card in case you’re not familiar.

These lead generation cards are a great way to capture user information directly from Twitter.

You could easily set one of these up for your business to have people sign up to receive offers or incentives.

You grow your email marketing list and they get the information they want delivered directly to their inbox making it a win – win for both sides.

The Lead Generating Card on Twitter has a single button that when clicked will send the Name and Email address directly to your MailChimp or which ever email-marketing account that you use.

The whole process is simple.

You will first logog in to your Twitter Account.

You will then select settings.

From the settings drop down you will select (by clicking) on the Twitter Ads option.

If you don’t already have a Twitter Ads account, you will need to set one up.

From the navigation bar hove over and click on Creatives and then select Cards from the fly-out options.

You will be redirected to the Twitter Cards Manager.

From this page you will want to click on, create lead generation card button.

The Create a Lead Generation Card web page is broken down into two sections.

The left side has all of the card settings and the right side of the page has a live preview of what the actual card will look like to Twitter users.

Left Side

Right Side

Simply fill out the information for each of the form fields on the left.

You can upload your own image to use on this card and the image requirements are spelled out next to the upload button.

We would recommend that you do not use stock images in this section, as the intent is to give your company, brand or organization an identity.

The destination URL settings are optional but this could be a great way to send people to your landing page or cross promote your content.

The Data settings are also optional but very important as we are using this card to grow our email-marketing list.

It is also important to note that these settings will change based on the service that you are using so be sure to check with them to find out what those settings should be.

At MediaOnQ use MailChimp so we’ll go to our MailChimp account for this example.

From the list section, we’ll select signup forms and then pick form integrations.

You may need to scroll down to see the Twitter integration section.

Once you see the Twitter integration section you will want to copy the URL that is showing in the form field.

You will then head back to Twitter and past the URL into the section displayed below.

You will also have to select a method.

You will want to select post because we want this form (the Twitter Lead Generation Card) to post information into the email-marketing account.

The Custom Hidden Value is another optional section.

You will want to add a Custom Hidden Value in order to make the email-marketing integration to work correctly.

If you’re using MailChimp the Key will be id and the value will be the list id, which you’ll find back on the MailChimp Twitter Integration page.

At this point all you have to do is give your card a name, check to agree to the Twitter terms and click on the Create a Card Button.

Twitter will then send some test data to your account, which will be, you (your own account) subscribing to your email-marketing list.

You will then select yes if the information posted correctly and you will then be able to start growing your email-marketing list through Twitter.

You can email us here to request more information about our marketing services.
